I have been contemplating a new series of paintings I have been wanting to start for several months now, trying to figure out different compositions and color schemes which would support the central concept of the series. In order to get the ball rolling, I inquired about a show at the yoga studio I belong to, 3 Oms. Of course, I was thinking I would have six to ten months to complete this series of work, but, the next available show is in July, as in, a month and a half from now. Of course, there is no way I could do the series of paintings I have been thinking about in the time allotted, but I did not want to give up an opportunity, so I figured, I would take it and come up with pieces that would not need as much time to create. It is this pressure, along with several serendipitous events, which led me to the concept and medium of the show. I am almost afraid to talk about it just yet, as I am still a bit unsure, but, I guess this is the whole point of a work in progress blog, so I might as well. My idea is to grow moss on superhero logos. I am still ruminating on the theme, but my gut tells me this is about antiquated ideas of external assistance, and the evolving mind that takes responsibility and creates a hero scenario through personal growth. I am still working out the details, but I am very excited to start growing moss. I will post pics as to the progress and thoughts I have around this idea.
